In the open-ear earbud market, clip-on designs have rapidly become a mainstream choice over the past two years. Their lightweight design, stylish appearance, and compatibility with eyewear have made them increasingly popular among consumers. Recently, OPPO launched the Enco Clip2 open earbuds. The new product is designed for all-day wearing comfort and features flagship dual drivers, dual DACs, and Dynaudio-tuned audio, delivering a premium wireless listening experience.

In terms of smart and convenient features, the OPPO Enco Clip2 supports the voice assistant, allowing users to execute quick voice commands, Favorite songs, and play recommended music without a wake word. The earbuds feature automatic left/right channel identification, enabling a reversible wearing experience regardless of which ear is used. Equipped with an optical proximity sensor for in-ear detection, it achieves highly accurate automatic music play/pause.
Furthermore, the earbuds support Effortless ecosystem connectivity for device switching, alongside a voice alert for dropped earbuds to prevent accidental loss. When paired with the latest OPPO phone, users can also enjoy advanced functions such as AI translation and remote camera control.

According to a disassembly of the OPPO Enco Clip2 open earbuds by 52Audio, the internal in-ear detection utilizes Maxic's digital optical proximity sensor MT3103.

Overview
MT3103 is a compact, ultra-low-power consumption, and high-SNR digital optical proximity sensor with an integrated 940nm VCSEL. Featuring a standby power consumption as low as 0.7μA, the sensor incorporates Maxic’s proprietary adaptive noise suppression algorithm, significantly enhancing the efficiency of in-ear detection.

MT3103 series integrates infrared receiver, laser emitter, an I²C interface, high-precision ADC, and programmable low-noise amplifier into miniature LGA6 package. Its highly integrated and compact design makes it ideal for space-constrained applications. The series delivers an industry-leading SNR while maintaining an ultra-small footprint, providing excellent noise suppression performance. Built-in OTP memory and factory calibration help eliminate residual background noise introduced during module assembly.

As artificial intelligence and acoustic technologies continue to integrate, TWS earbuds are transforming from audio playback devices into multifunctional smart devices, driving increasing demand for advanced features such as in-ear detection and smart interaction. Maxic will continue to innovate in intelligent sensor technologies, delivering high-performance, high power-efficient solutions to optimize user experience of consumer electronics.
